HPG Axis Research Stack
Kisspeptin-10 + MT-2 Neuroendocrine Cross-Talk Model
A research model examining hypothalamic reproductive axis regulation through two converging neuroendocrine pathways. Kisspeptin-10 drives GnRH neuron activation, while MT-2 engages melanocortin receptors in the arcuate nucleus.
Kisspeptin-10 is the biologically active C-terminal decapeptide of the KISS1 gene product. MT-2 (Melanotan II) is a cyclic heptapeptide analog of alpha-MSH with broad melanocortin receptor agonism (MC1R, MC3R, MC4R). Hypothalamic arcuate nucleus neurons expressing MC3R and MC4R include populations that synapse on and modulate the excitability of kisspeptin neurons, forming a melanocortin-kisspeptin-GnRH relay.
